COLLEGE  FINE ART

Welcome to the collegiate art section.  Over the course of the past three decades, Solovey has composed bespoke & original fine for both the Virginia Military Institute and Sweet Briar College.  More updates to follow.

This lithograph is an artistic interpretation featuring the original VMI Barracks (mid-late 1800s) showing the original location of the "Virginia Mourning Her Dead" statue.

An Opportunity to Contribute

In early 2018, Solovey, in collaboration with the VMI Museum Director, began discussions about a comprehensive historical collage--one of which had never yet been produced.  There was so much rich history & material, it was decided to compose two different lithographs.  One from 1839 up through the early 1930s, "Since 1839".  The second offering would focus its beginning with WW II up through the present-day, "Resolve".
